Bacolod SP condoles with Salanga family

• CHRYSEE G. SAMILLANO

The Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bacolod City expressed its deepest sympathy and condolences to fellow SP member Israel Salanga on the passing of his father, radio veteran Fred Salanga.

The resolution authored by Councilor Em Ang said “It is with profound sadness that we learned the news of the passing of Fred Salanga, a stalwart of local radio broadcasting, who succumbed to a lingering illness Monday.”

Fred Salanga is the father of Bacolod Councilor Israel Salanga and former Negros Press Club president Mark Salanga, it said.

His illustrious career as a local radio broadcaster and anchor spanned 50 years, leaving an indelible mark on the local broadcasting scene, the resolution passed by the SP yesterday, said.

The Sangguniang Panlungsod acknowledges the immense contribution of Fred Salanga to the radio industry and extends its profound sympathies, thoughts, and heartfelt prayers to his family, particularly on fellow SP member Israel Salanga, it said.

He is survived by his loving wife Jocelyn, children and grandchildren, who are no doubt grieving the loss of a devoted father and family man, the resolution added.*
