A resolution congratulating George Dela Cruz for being awarded with the Excellence in Public Service and Outstanding Educator (Dangal ng Bayan Award) of the Year in the 1st Hinirang ng Pilipinas Awards Night at Global Corporate Center, Quezon City on June 12, was approved by the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod Wednesday.
The resolution authored by Councilor Simplicia Distrito said the Hinirang ng Pilipinas is a prestigious award-giving body that honors outstanding Filipinos in different fields such as education, arts, and public service.
The Outstanding Public Officials and Employees (Dangal ng Bayan Award) is a recognition granted to a Filipino for an exemplary act or public service that is consistent with the ethical behaviors as outlined in R.A. No. 6713 of the “Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees,” it said.
George Dela Cruz is a senior high school teacher of Handumanan National High School. He was awarded with the Excellence in Public Service and Outstanding Educator for his remarkable and emulating performance as an educator, the resolution said.
Prior to being awarded with the Dangal ng Bayan Award, De la Cruz was a regional winner for the 2023 Search for Outstanding Government Workers given by the Civil Service Commission, it said.
Aside from being a Dangal ng Bayan awardee, De la Cruz is a laudable and multi-awarded teacher with national and international recognition. He was awarded as an “Advocate of the Month” and a “Global Mentor” by the Global Schools Program of the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network for his active role as advocate and mentor in Education Sustainable Development.
He was also awarded with the Most Outstanding Innovative Leader and Writer in the 1st IOER International Excellence Awards 2022, and the Outstanding Highly Proficient Educator in the Global Leaders & Educators Award 2022, it said. De la Cruz was a Former Legislative Staff Officer II of the Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bacolod City and was former vice president of the Bacolod City Association of Technical Assistants in the SP (BATASS), the resolution said.
