A resolution congratulating Eevo Geocadin, Ethan Chavez, Zane Olivo, Davon Pecha, and Joshua Deita for winning three gold, one silver, and one bronze medals, respectively, in the taekwondo event of the National Private Schools Athletics Association (PRISAA) sports meet held last July 14 in Zamboanga City, was approved by the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod yesterday.
The resolution authored by Councilor Em Ang said the PRISAA was held last July 13 to 19 in Zamboanga City, where more than 7,000 student-athletes participated in different sports events from 17 different regions across the country.
The Taekwondo event of the said sports meet was participated by almost 600 athletes who competed, and six of them represented Bacolod as part of the Western Visayas or Region VI delegation, it said.
Among the six representatives of Bacolod City to the said event, five won medals which include three gold, one silver, and one bronze medal, the resolution said.
Eevo Geocadin, Ethan Chavez, and Zane Olivo won gold medals, Davon Pecha won a silver medal, and Joshua Deita won a bronze medal, it said.
The resolution said the above-mentioned student-athletes are under the tutelage of world-class Taekwondo coach, Vic Feria of Hanah Taekwondo Gym in Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City.
The feat earned by the aforesaid athletes gives pride and honor to Bacolod City and serves as a model to other young athletes in the city which is worthy of emulation, it said.
The Sangguniang Panlungsod joins the whole city in congratulating the above-mentioned student-athletes on their triumph on the national stage, the resolution added.*
