Bacolod Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran led City Councilors Jude Thaddeus Sayson, Celia Matea Flor, Simplicia Distrito, Jason Isidro Villarosa, and Hennessy Gasataya, LGOO V, DILG Regional Office VI, in receiving a check worth P50,000 from the Philippine Councilors League, for the stellar performance of the Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod in the 2023 Local Legislative Awards organized by the PCL, Vice Mayors League, and the Department of the Interior and Local Government.
The LGU also received two separate Awards of Recognition as a national finalist and national winner in the Highly Urbanized City Category, and in recognition of its significant accomplishments in local legislation that ultimately contributed to the attainment of desirable socio-economic and environmental outcomes that benefited the community and enhanced the development of the local government unit.
The citations were given during the 2023 Year-End Assembly of the PCL at the World Trade Center in Pasay City Tuesday.
With them were PCL national chairman Councilor Raul Corro, VMLP national chairperson Vice Mayor Bernard Dela Cruz, and NAC chairperson and DILG Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr.
Bacolod City was hailed second runner-up, following first runner-up Mandaue and Quezon City as the champion in the Highly Urbanized City category.
A separate plaque was also awarded to the Bacolod City SP for being the regional champions last October in Iloilo City.
The LLA was formulated by the Philippine Councilors League (PCL), in partnership with the DILG in 2016, to recognize the exemplary performance of city and municipal Sanggunians that help build meaningful local administration.
The award focuses on some of the Sanggunian’s best practices such as Responsiveness of the Legislative Agenda; Availability of Legislative Documents; Effectiveness and Efficiency of Performance of the Sanggunian; Legislative Citations and Awards and Capacity Development for Legislators and Staff.*
