A resolution congratulating and commending international master Joel Pimentel of Barangay Bata for winning the 2nd ISC Open Chess Tournament at the India Social & Cultural Center, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, bringing honor and pride to the City of Bacolod, was recently approved by the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod.
Authored by Councilor Jude Thaddeus Sayson, the resolution said the SP of Bacolod City recognizes and commends the achievements of Bacolodnons who bring great honor and recognition to the city through their exemplary talent and dedication in their respective fields.
International master Joel Pimentel, a proud resident of Brgy. Bata, Bacolod City, recently won the 2nd ISC Open Chess Tournament at the India Social & Cultural Center in Abu Dhabi, UAE, it said.
This outstanding achievement exemplifies his skills, discipline, and passion for the game of chess, serving as an inspiration to the youth and fellow Bacolodnons alike, the resolution said.
His remarkable victory on the international stage has once again placed the City of Bacolod on the spotlight, showcasing the excellence and competitiveness of its citizens, it added.*
