The Bacolod City Council has passed resolutions requesting the immediate installation, repair, and activation of street lights along the city’s major thoroughfares.
The request was formally directed to the City Engineer’s Office, through the Office of the City Mayor, to address concerns regarding visibility and road safety.
“We receive several complaints that it is really dark and it’s ironic that the portion of Bacolod is much darker in the airport road, so, we are requesting our city engineer’s office to check our street lights,” Councilor Em Ang said.
She added that a separate resolution was also approved seeking assistance from the office of Bacolod Lone District Rep. Alfredo Abelardo Benitez to illuminate the Bacolod-Silay Airport access road, as it falls under the jurisdiction of the Department of Public Works and Highways Bacolod District Engineering Office.
Ang authored both measures, which received the full support of the Sangguniang Panlungsod.
The initiative aims to enhance public safety for both motorists and pedestrians while ensuring that infrastructure under both local and national jurisdiction is properly maintained.*
