A resolution requesting the Bacolod City Police Office, through City Director Col. Joresty Coronica, to deploy more policemen on patrol and cover crowded areas, specifically malls, the Bacolod Public Plaza, the Bacolod City Government Center, The Upper East, and the Provincial Capitol Lagoon, to ensure a safe, secure and peaceful holiday celebration in Bacolod City, was passed by the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod yesterday.
The resolution authored by Councilor Em Ang said the Christmas and New Year’s Day holiday seasons are the time of the year that the above-mentioned places are frequented by most people because of the opulent, colorful decorations and abundant bright lights in their respective areas.
Now that the Christmas holidays have started, more people will be visiting crowded areas, and petty crimes and other modus operandi will likely occur, it said.
To maintain security, peace and order in the aforesaid frequented areas and to ensure the safety of the people visiting the same, police visibility must be increased in the aforesaid areas, the resolution added.*
