A resolution enjoining the City of Bacolod to participate and support the activities in observance of Women’s Month for the whole month of March, was recently approved by the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod.
Authored by Councilor Celia Matea Flor, the resolution said the Women’s Month celebration is guided by the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) campaign theme “WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society (2023-2028)” and 2026 sub-theme: Lead like the Babaylans, Filipinas!,” which reinforces the core objective of Republic Act No. 9710, or the Magna Carta of Women, to empower women, promote gender equality, and ensure equitable access to resources, services, and opportunities.
This year’s celebration emphasizes the vital need for inclusive progress for all women, especially those from underserved and marginalized sectors, including indigenous women, and young women and girls, ensuring that no one is left behind in the pursuit of equality and development, it said.
All barangays, offices, agencies, and departments of the City of Bacolod are encouraged to use the “All Women” National Anthem or other PCW- recommended official campaign materials and audio-visual presentations in their programs and activities throughout the month of March, the resolution said.
All officials and employees of the city government of Bacolod are enjoined to wear anything in the color of purple every Wednesday throughout the month of March to symbolize solidarity with women’s empowerment, gender equality, and inclusive participation, it said.
All city offices and barangays are encouraged to display purple ribbons, streamers, and campaign materials, and to establish a Purple Corner or GAD Corner in their respective workplaces to showcase Gender and Development (GAD) programs, services, accomplishments, and advocacy initiatives, the resolution added.*
