The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod is requesting the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Bacolod and the Bacolod City Engineer’s Office to provide and install additional streetlights, road markings, and early warning devices along Araneta Street, Bacolod City in order to prevent road crashes.
Authored by Councilor Claudio Jesus Raymundo Puentevella, the resolution said Araneta Street is a vital road which connects Barangays Tangub, Pahanocoy, and Sum-ag, and provides vital access going to and from Bacolod and Bago cities.
These areas are densely populated, which requires proper road markings, street lights, and the installation of other early warning devices, it said.
Numerous fatal road crashes have occurred in these areas involving pedestrians and motorists, due to inadequate streetlights and other early warning devices, the resolution said.
There is a need to provide and install additional street lights, road markings and early warning devices along Araneta Street in order to prevent further road accidents, it added.*
