The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod is urging the prompt renewal of contract of service of local health workers in assisting the City of Bacolod combat COVID-19 virus and its variants.
The resolution authored by Councilor Renecito Novero said that in battling against the virulent COVID-19, the City of Bacolod contracted the services of several medical health personnel in year 2021 and 2022.
It said these medical personnel proved to be efficient and competent partner in the city’s health care program and the surge of COVID-19 which included, among others, the multifarious works of vaccination, contact tracing, consultation and medication of patients, etc.
The resolution said their respective contracts have already terminated after December 31, 2021.
In the January 10 meeting of the Emergency Operation Center (EOC) called by Mayor Evelio Leonardia, EOC executive director Em Ang articulated the need to promptly renew the contracts of these medical personnel in the light of the interminable surge of COVID-19 and its variants in the country which will also possibly afflict the City of Bacolod, it added.*
