The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod is enjoining all departments of the Bacolod City government, tourism stakeholders, business establishments, and all Bacolodnons to extend full support to the hosting of the first-ever Terra Madre Slow Food Asia & Pacific 2025 to be held on November 19 to 23 in Bacolod City.
The resolution authored by Councilor Em Ang said the City of Bacolod has been chosen to host the first-ever Terra Madre Slow Food Asia & Pacific 2025, a global celebration of food, culture, and sustainability.
This prestigious event will bring together food producers, chefs, activists, and experts from around the world to promote and celebrate the rich culinary heritage and biodiversity of Asia and the Pacific, it said.
The hosting of this event presents a unique opportunity for the City of Bacolod to showcase its vibrant culture, rich history, and commitment to sustainability, and to promote local food systems, sustainable agriculture, and eco-tourism, the resolution said.
The success of this event requires the active participation, support, and cooperation of all departments of the Bacolod City government, tourism and business sectors, and all residents, it said.
The resolution is also requesting Bacolod Mayor Greg Gasataya to create a task force to oversee the preparations and hosting of the event, composed of representatives from the City Mayor’s Office, Sangguniang Panlungsod, the regional offices of the Department of Tourism and Department of Agriculture, and other relevant departments and sectors.
The City Government of Bacolod is also encouraged to engage and involve the community, including local farmers, food producers, chefs, hotels, restaurants, transportation sector and residents, in the preparations and hosting of the event.*
