The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod is urging the general public to only engage or recommend accredited tour guides or tour operators for purposes of effectively and efficiently accommodating tourists in Bacolod City.
The resolution authored by Councilor Jason Isidto Villarosa said a concern has been raised by accredited tour guides and tour operators with regard to the proliferation of independent and unaccredited tour guides and tour operators in the City of Bacolod.
With such a premise, the initiative of the City Mayor to create a city that is welcoming may leave an adverse impression to the detriment of the objectives of the mayor, it said.
Such overt acts by individuals or groups may not only leave negative remarks of our city but the whole island as well, as touring the city also includes touring the who whole island of Negros, the resolution said.
It is strongly urged for the public to only employ or recommend official tour guides or tour operators for an immersive experience of the culture, heritage, and history of Bacolod City while the local government unit of Bacolod City studies the curtailment of unwanted, unofficial, and damaging unaccredited tour guides and tour operators, it added.*
