The Bureau of Local Government Finance of the Department of Finance (DOF) recognized the City of Bacolod for topping tax collection efficiency in Western Visayas for 2021.
Bacolod was also top 2 in the Highest Local Sources Revenue for entire Region 6.
Bacolod City Assessor Maphilindo Polvora said the city reached 183.57 percent collection efficiency for the same year.
This only shows that his office, together with the City Treasurer’s Office, have good performances, he said, adding that they also recognize the contribution of the taxpayers who continued to pay their taxes despite the crisis brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Polvora said he expects that the tax collection will further increase with the recent passage of an ordinance by the City Council granting tax relief to delinquent real property taxpayers.
They were reminded by the DOF to conduct general revisions. As a result, the city plans to increase real property taxes next year because the last time this was revised was in 2018, when they are supposed to conduct revisions every three years, he said.*
