Bacolod City has been designated as the official host for the FIBA U18 Women’s Asia Cup South East Asia Basketball Association (SEABA) Qualifiers 2026, scheduled to take place from June 2 to 6.
The international tournament will feature national youth teams and delegations from across 6 Southeast Asian Countries.
According to City Mayor Greg Gasataya, the event is part of a strategic initiative to position Bacolod as a center for sports tourism and regional development.
“Hosting events of this magnitude generates direct economic benefits especially for our local businesses and elevates our city’s national and global standing,” Gasataya said.
He added that the city is prepared to meet the requirements for delivering international-standard sporting events.
The event is a partnership between the city government, the Federation Internationale de Basketball, the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas, and the Philippine Sports Commission.
Gasataya added that the possible venues have already been visited by the organizers during their ocular inspection last January.
The mayor said that he also informed the organizers that the city is willing to host more international Basketball events.
The competition serves as a qualifying round for the FIBA U18 Women’s Asia Cup.*
