Bacolod top cop outlines plans

Police Col. Eugene Rebadomia, acting Bacolod City Police Director, outlined his plans and priorities for the BCPO, as well as expressed his gratitude to the city mayor and the Sangguniang Panlungsod for endorsing him as the new police director of Bacolod City.

During a courtesy call to the SP yesterday, Rebadomia lobbied for the city government to provide a lot for a permanent Police Regional Office in the city, and for the upgrade of the BCPO from “Class B” status to “Class A” status so they could also be provided additional manpower.

He reported that the BCPO has confiscated P1.8 million worth of illegal drugs since he assumed office as officer-in-charge of the BCPO last February 9. He has issued marching orders to all station commanders to intensify their campaign against illegal drugs, he said adding that they need the support and collaboration of the SP and the city in their campaign against illegal drugs and other forms of criminality.

Rebadomia also requested the SP to pass a resolution for the establishment of five additional police stations to be located in Barangays Banago, Estefania, Cabug, Singcang, and Vista Alegre. He also requested for the repair and upgrade of CCTVs in the city since many are unserviceable, and for the passage of measures to help the police in securing CCTV footage for the speedy resolution of crimes. He also assured that the police will assist the city in the implementation of ordinances.

He also plans to regulate speed limits in the city to help curb road accidents. They will also intensify police visibility in the city especially in areas identified to have illegal drugs and other illegal activities like gambling.

SAFE BACOLAODIAT, NIRAAM VOWED

The BCPO has also launched security plan to ensure the safety of visitors of the Bacolaodiat Festival and athletes participating in the upcoming Negros Island Region Athletic Association Meet (NIRAAM).

Rebadomia issued an assurance that the city remains peaceful despite recent reports of theft and robberies.

“It’s very safe in Bacolod City,” he said.

For the Bacolaodiat Festival, approximately 300 to 400 police officers will be deployed to key festival sites, including the Bacolod City Government Center, Megaworld Upper East, and major shopping malls.

In preparation for NIRAAM, scheduled for March 1 to 7, the BCPO has requested an augmentation force of 100 to 200 personnel from the Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office and the Regional Mobile Task Force.

Over 600 officers will be stationed across sports venues and billeting areas, and to protect the visiting athletes. They will also engage with the force multipliers to assist them.

Rebadomia also encouraged residents and tourists to be vigilant and courageous in reporting any suspicious activities to the authorities to help maintain the city’s security.*
