PCol. Noel Aliño, outgoing BCPO director*

PCol. Noel Aliño was relieved as director of the Bacolod City Police Office, which is under the supervision of the Police Regional Office 6, and transferred to the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, effective July 19.

The sudden relief of Aliño as BCPO head was effected, notably as spate of killings in Bacolod City have again taken place.

The relief and transfer of Aliño was contained in a special order issued by Camp Crame, which was signed by PMaj. Gen. Sidney Hernia, chief of the Directorate for Personnel and Management, dated July 18.

In the same order, PCol. Joel Apelo Ana was also relieved from CIDG, and transferred to Police Regional Office 6.

In a statement, Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez yesterday explained that the relief of Aliño as BCPO director, forms part of the PNP’s promotion process.

There is no confirmation yet if Ana will be designated as BCPO officer in charge, as he swapped assignments with Aliño.

Benitez said he will wait for the official announcement from the PRO 6, on who will replace Aliño as BCPO head.

But the mayor said he is looking forward to working closely with the incoming BCPO director, to continue ensuring the welfare and protection of every Bacolodnon, and maintain the utmost peace and order, and security of Bacolod City.

At the same time, Benitez said Aliño had done a commendable job during his stint as BCPO head.

Aliño served as BCPO chief for more than a year.

On the other hand, Coast Guard Cmdr. Paterno Belarmino was also relieved yesterday as head of the CG Northern Negros Occidental, replaced by Cmdr. Jansen Benjamin.*
