The Bacolod City Veterinary Office has recorded the vaccination of 17,522 pets as of March 19, as part of the city’s ongoing anti-rabies initiative.
The majority of the vaccinations were conducted through a proactive house-to-house strategy, reaching 16,984 pets, including 13,560 dogs and 3,424 cats.
An additional 538 pets, consisting of 403 dogs and 135 cats, were immunized through office walk-ins and organized community events.
That brings the current overall total to 13,960 dogs and 3,559 cats vaccinated within the current period.
The progress follows a 2025 campaign where at least 80,000 dogs were vaccinated in the city.
For 2026, the city government said that the target has been expanded to at least 100,000 dogs, under an updated prevention strategy.
The vaccinations are provided free of charge to all Bacolod residents, with dedicated teams deployed to various barangays according to a set schedule.
The house-to-house operations are tentatively targeted for completion between July and August.*
