A total of 113 achievers, comprising student-athletes and academic topnotchers, were recognized by the Bacolod City government during the ‘2025 Pasidungog Para sa Dalayawon nga mga Atleta kag Estudyante’ on Friday.
The bulk of the honorees included more than 94 student-athletes who were recognized for their medal-winning performances in competitions such as the Batang Pinoy, the Palarong Pambansa, and various international events.
Meanwhile, 19 board examination topnotchers were also honored for their exceptional academic achievements.
Special recognition was given to three exceptional athletes for their national achievements and inspiration to Bacolodnon youth.
Rhose Vhianne Almendralejo, an Alas Pilipinas U-19 outside hitter, was conferred the 2025 Best Athlete of the Year and Outstanding Athlete for Ball Games at the Gawad Pagkilala sa Larangan ng Isports in Aklan.
She was honored alongside Bacolod Taytung High School Thunderbolts team captain Brianna Nikola Ang, a Palarong Pambansa Sports Idol, and Mico Villaran, a record-breaking hurdler from Romanito P. Maravilla Sr. National High School.
The vital contribution of Thunderbolts founder Boy Montalbo was also acknowledged, where he was credited for significantly advancing volleyball development in Bacolod City and the region.*
