A primary concern for several Bacolodnon families is the sudden loss of communication with their relatives working in the Middle East amidst ongoing military operations in the region.
As of 4 p.m. on Monday, 14 families officially sought assistance in the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) hotline and helpdesk at the Bacolod City Government Center lobby.
Most of the unreachable OFWs are reportedly stationed in Qatar, Abu Dhabi, and Riyadh, areas currently affected by the conflict.
Mayor Greg Gasataya said they are coordinating with the Department of Migrant Workers to bridge the communication gaps.*
