Bacolod City Administrator Atty. Mark Steven Mayo urged the passengers to report taxi drivers who refuse to use meters, directly to the City Legal Office or the City Administrator’s Office to facilitate the filing of formal complaints.
The advisory follows complaints from the riding public who took the price hikes to social media, including a P500 charge from the South Terminal to Barangay Pahanocoy.
Mayo said that they will look into aggressive violators and form a team to monitor the issue.
He added that since they are already in touch with taxi operators, they will monitor the violations and report them to the LTFRB once concrete evidence is gathered.
“There is no room for abuse or taking advantage of others. This is exactly what we are addressing because we simply cannot tolerate these practices,” he said.
The city administrator reminded taxi drivers that this is the best time to be fair to their passengers.
He noted that the government is reaching out in good faith to offer support, and urged drivers not to resort to violations for extra income, emphasizing that wrongdoing remains inexcusable.*
