Bacolod’s very own Marvin Alob, a coach and fitness advocate, once again demonstrated his prowess in the sport of bodybuilding, by securing multiple top victories at national competitions held in Cebu province.
Alob recently brought home four significant victories, including two championship titles, winning the Men’s Physique Master and Men’s Physique Short categories at the 11th Mr. and Ms. Conquer Philippines Bodybuilding Competition held on June 8 in Liloan, Cebu.
A few days later, he continued his winning streak in Toledo, Cebu, where he participated in the Muscle Showdown 4th Mayor’s Cup. There, he earned the first runner-up position in the Men’s Physique Short category and second runner-up in the Men’s Physique Master category.
Alob’s inspiring journey which took him from janitor and messenger at a bank to becoming a bodybuilding champion has garnered widespread admiration. His story first gained viral attention due to his dedication and resilience.
“I feel the love and support of Bacolod for individuals like me, which motivates me to represent the city and province at the national level with even greater dedication and inspiration,” Alob said, reflecting on his recent achievements.
Alob’s successes in various fitness competitions have caught the attention of numerous leaders who have supported his endeavors. Bacolod City Mayor Albee Benitez, Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, Congressman Greg Gasataya, Councilor Kalaw Puentevella, and even the office of Vice President Sara Duterte, through the efforts of Dr. Chris Sorongon, have extended assistance to the champion coach.
ICON OF SPORTS
In recognition of his contributions to sports, Alob was recently honored as an “Icon of Sports” by Barangay Mansilingan during its Charter Anniversary celebrations.
Despite starting his fitness journey later in life, Alob believes that hard work and perseverance can lead to success. “I started late in fitness, but blessings keep coming. I believe that God never abandons those who have dreams for themselves and their community,” he shared.
Currently, Alob serves as the head coach at Fitness Ground Murcia and Millennial Fitness Center. He is also preparing for upcoming competitions in Negros Oriental, where he aims to continue his winning streak and bring further pride to Bacolod City.*
