
Bago City Mayor Mayette Javellana along with other officials, led the opening of this year’s Agro-Industrial Educational and Cultural Trade Fair at the Manuel Y. Torres Memorial Coliseum and Cultural Center yesterday, a press release from Bago PIO said.
Javellana, in her message, underscored that 60 years of cityhood is a journey shaped by perseverance, shared dreams, and a deep love “for this land we call home, our dear Bago City.”
“As we are nearing the 60th Charter Anniversary of our beloved Bago City, we gather not only to open this Agro-Industrial, Educational, and Cultural Trade Fair, but to celebrate the very soul of Bago, our culture, our people and the best that Bago can offer the world,” she added.
Sixty years of cityhood is a journey shaped by perseverance, shared dreams, and a deep love for this land we call home, our dear Bago City.
She also stressed that “this celebration comes alive through the Bugana Festival, our thanksgiving of abundance and this trade fair is a beautiful reflection of that abundance.”
“Abundance of harvest, of culture, of faith, and most of all, abundance of hope and love that flows from the hard work and strong spirit of every Bagonhon,” the mayor also said.
For Vice Mayor Andrew Martin Torres, the Agro-Industrial Educational and Cultural Trade Fair is a reminder that “we should work together, and in unity, para mas layo pa gid ang aton nga malambot bilang isa ka syudad.”
The two top officials, along with the punong barangays in the city, also led the banner raising.
Negros Occidental Fourth District Board Members Nicholas Yulo and Paula Alonso were present at the activity, along with Councilors Victor Michael Javellana, Ma. Josefa Matti, Robert Javellana, Jake Patrick Torres, Ma. Femmy Alvarez-Martir, Jorge Araneta, Leonilo del Carmen, Imelda Precion and Jom Somcio, ABC President Jovito Gahaton and SK Federation President Julianae Lavadia.
It was also attended by city hall department and office heads, representatives of partner-agencies and exhibitors, among other stakeholders.
The Agro-Industrial, Educational, and Cultural Trade Fair forms part of the city’s 60th Charter Anniversary celebration themed “Better, Brighter Bago @ 60.”*
