Bago City, through its City Nutrition Office, kicked off this year’s Nutrition Month with a caravan around the city proper participated in by its different partners and stakeholders on July 4.
The caravan started at 8 a.m. in front of Bago City Hall, which also signifies the start of the month-long celebration pursuant to the declaration of July as Nutrition Month throughout the country by virtue of Presidential Decree 491 or the Nutrition Act of 1974.
The event was spearheaded by the City Nutrition Committee Chair Dr. Ramon Mayoga, City Nutrition Action Officer, and facilitated by Josephine dela Chica, CNPC-Designate in cooperation with the City Nutrition Council members.
This year’s theme “New normal na nutrisyon, sama-samang gawan ng solusyon!” called for strengthened nutrition improvement as the country shifts towards new normal.
It highlighted the importance of nutrition recovery, stimulates discussions on how to build back better design and delivery of nutrition intervention and encourages the participation of various sectors to promote nutrition. It also calls upon stakeholders to implement evidence-based and innovative solutions to increase resilience and improved nutrition outcomes.
Joining the caravan were the members of the City Nutrition Committee, CNC Secretary Yve Narazo, CPDO head Engr. Edwin De Nicolas and Dr. Reynaldo Espejo of the Department of Education with medical team, nurses and staff.
Also present were DSWD staff, CHO personnel, Barangay Nutrition Scholars, Punong Barangays and council.*
