Bago City Mayor-elect Marina “Mayette” Javellana-Yao highlighted the call as she took her oath of office before RTC Executive Judge Mary Jennifer Protacio-Arches, Friday afternoon at the Manuel Y. Torres Memorial Coliseum and Cultural Center.
Mayor Javellana-Yao said that in this era of change the governance will be anchored on the framework Asenso Bago.
According to a press release,it will be focused on the following: agriculture by addressing food security through agricultural development by giving farmers and fisherfolks equal access to opportunities and assistance; sustainable livelihood through the implementation of intervention programs like technical-vocational training, financial literacy and community development projects down to the grassroots; education, culture and sports providing support to the Department of Education Schools Division of Bago and Bago City College through infrastructures, course offerings and manpower services, promotion of unique Bagonhon culture and impactful sports development programs;
Natural resources and environment, social services, health, and gender equality, opportunities for employment through Trabaho Bago by creating diverse opportunities for employment across multiple sectors in order to uplift their lives; business and tourism by urging more investors and improve tourism programs and initiatives to spur economic growth, generate employment, and create more opportunities for Bagonhon; access to roads and basic utilities through quality and adequate road networks, electricity access, water and sanitation; and finally optimization of communication and technology through partnerships with government and non-government agencies to launch the more inclusive, resilient and future-looking smart city.
Moreover, the Mayor also expressed her excitement in the launching of the flagship programs like Iskolar-Bago or the Bago City Scholarship and educational assistance program with the help of the City Council; Ulikid Bago, Asenso Bago Aksyon Dayon Center, Lab Bago or mobile clinic and dental bus; Botika Bago giving free vitamins and maintenance medicines; Build Bago which will pave the way to more farm to market roads, modern public library, a co-working space and dormitory for Bago City College; and Digital Bago by providing additional free Wi-Fi zones and better connectivity for the City.
“These are the causes I am strongly committed to realizing with the support of all Bagonhons to make our dream of a Bag-o nga Bago a beautiful and loving reality,” she said, offering her hand of friendship and solidarity as she embarks on her mandate as the new City Mayor.
Finally, she called upon the department heads and dedicated government employees to continue exemplifying the highest standards of public service, channeling their unwavering commitment and selfless devotion toward the people of Bago, whose trust they all have been honored to receive and whose welfare remains their responsibility.
“I urge my fellow Bagonhons to stand united with your elected city officials as our partners in progress,” she added and encouraged the active engagement in meaningful public dialogue to important conversations for positive change and to actively support their government officials while holding them accountable.
Javellana-Yao also congratulated all members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod led by Vice Mayor Andrew Martin Y. Torres as they stand united in enriching the lives of their kasimanwa.
