The city government of Bago in Negros Occidental officially reopened the newly renovated Buenos Aires Mountain Resort at Barangay Ilijan, as operations began on Saturday.
According to City Senior Tourism Officer Mae Ann Furtos, the resort is open for day use from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. only and will not accommodate overnight stays. Only the area near the Olympic pool, kiddie pool, and surrounding areas is currently accessible, and the resort is accommodating walk-in guests only.
She added that the rebirth of the resort featured improved facilities such as the Olympic-sized pool and pavilion cottages, and that the resort’s facilities will gradually open one by one, as some areas are still under renovation.
“Buenos Aires is a historic ecotourism destination in Bago City, and we have the confidence that this will bring in more tourists and create economic opportunities for the community,” she said, adding that the reopening was allowed after the downgrade of Mt. Kanlaon alert level to 2.
During the ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, Bago City Mayor Marina Javellana-Yao emphasized that the reopening is a renewal of life and tourism in the city.
“For countless Bagonhons, Buenos Aires has always been more than just a resort; it is actually a part of their family stories. It is where families found joy in the cool mountain breeze, where children’s laughter echoed as they played in the pool, and where friendships were strengthened in the beauty of nature,” she said.
