Bago City welcomes homegrown SEA Games medalist

• THERESA MAE DULMAN

The local government units and residents of Bago City, Negros Occidental, gave a hero’s welcome to Southeast Asian (SEA) Games medalist Flint Jara, who returned to his hometown on Wednesday, following a successful stint in Thailand.

Jara recently secured a silver medal in boxing during the 33rd 2025 SEA Games held in Thailand.

“Although this is not the color I aimed for, I am proud to capture a podium finish for my first time in the Southeast Asian Games,” said Jara in an interview with The Citybridge, official newsletter of Bago City.

He added that there are many major tournaments next year and expressed his hope to participate in all of them while remaining injury-free.

Jara previously secured a gold medal in the 2025 Road and Belt in China Boxing Competition, last August in Xinjiang, China.

Mayor Mayette Javellana received Jara at her office for a courtesy visit.*
