Bago City still had the highest number of COVID-19 cases among the 715 in the 31 towns and cities of Negros Occidental, as of Wednesday, a Provincial Health Office report showed yesterday.

Metro Manila and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are the areas nationally and internationally where the most number of COVID-19 patients in the province came from, the report also showed.

As of Wednesday, Bago City had 59 COVID-19 cases followed by Sagay City with 46, Cadiz City – 40, Silay City – 39, Himamaylan City – 36, Kabankalan City – 35, Calatrava – 31, San Carlos City – 30, Talisay City – 30, Binalbagan – 26, Victorias City – 26, La Carlota City – 25, Escalante City – 24;

Sipalay City – 24, Cauayan – 22, Manapla – 22, Hinigaran – 22, Hinoba-an – 20, La Castellana – 20, Murcia – 20, EB Magalona – 19, Valladolid – 17, Toboso – 15, Moises Padilla – 14, Pulupandan – 13, Isabela – 11, Ilog – 8, Pontevedra – 8, San Enrique – 7, Candoni – 4, and Salvador Benedicto – 2, the PHO report showed.

The areas in the Philippines where the COVID-19 patients came from were Manila – 255, Cebu – 102, Cavite – 27, Rizal – 19, Bulacan – 15, Iloilo – 8, Palawan – 5, Bataan – 4, Laguna – 3, Bohol, Davao, Pampanga, Quezon, Tarlac and Zamboanga – 2 each, and Antique, Camarines Sur, Capiz, Dumaguete and Guimaras – 1 each.

Internationally, 24 came from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Qatar – 14, Dubai – 13, United States – 12, Singapore – 9, Turkey – 7, South Korea – 6, Kuwait and Hong Kong – 5 each, Amsterdam and China – 4 each, Bahrain, Brazil, United Kingdom and Japan – 3 each, Australia, Abu Dhabi, Malaysia and Netherlands – 2 each, and Barbados, Brunei, Canada, France, Oman, Spain, South America, Southeast Asia, Belgium, Finland and Ireland – 1 each.

The most number of COVID positive patients were locally stranded individuals at 453, followed by overseas Filipino workers at 142, domestic – 89, frontliners -17, Authorized Persons Outside Residence -12, and in other provinces but tagged as from Negros Occidental – 2, the report added.

Of the 715 cases, 351 are active, 361 have recovered, and three died, the report said.

There were 569 asymptomatic and 146 symptomatic patients, 420 of whom were males and 295 females, it added.*
