With their commitment to safeguard coastal resources in Central Negros Occidental, the Central Negros Council for Coastal Resources Development (CENECCORD) conducted their election yesterday at the Bago City Community Center, which ended with the reelection of Bago City Mayor Marina Javellana-Yao as chairman.
CENECCORD is an alliance of 7 local government units (LGUs) in Central Negros Occidental organized through “The Central Negros Agreement on Coastal Resources Development of 2005.”
The council primarily aims to collectively manage the coastal area and resources of the seven member LGUs, such as Bago City and the municipalities of Valladolid, Pulupandan, San Enrique, Pontevedra, Hinigaran, and Binalbagan.
In her message, Javellana-Yao emphasized the responsibility of the council and their commitment to promote and achieve a productive and safer coastal area.
“We are called to safeguard what has been entrusted to us and to pass on the legacy of care and responsibility,” she said.
Aside from the representatives and executives of the mentioned LGUs, representatives from the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, and various municipal and city agriculturists also participated in the activity.*
