As part of the administration’s commitment to a transparent and people-centered governance, Bago City Mayor Mayette Javellana is bringing her first 100 days report to the grassroots, a press release from Bago PIO said.
Dubbed “Ang Bag-o nga Bago,” Javellana first reported the initial gains of her administration anchored on Asenso Bago governance framework and “May Gugma nga Panghimanwa” brand of leadership before the residents of Barangay Lag-asan on October 17.
It was attended by representatives of various national government agencies, some city hall department and office heads, employees, and family members of the mayor.
Javellana then brought her 100 days report before the residents of Barangays Caridad, Sagasa, Bacong, and Tabunan over the weekend. She is also set to deliver her report to the remaining 19 barangays of the city in the succeeding days.
In her report, Javellana recalled that during her inauguration, she stood before the people of Bago and made one commitment – change.
“We are here because of the people and we serve no one else but the people with love, with compassion, and with a heart that beats only for the Bagonhons,” she added.
Javellana reported that during her first three months in office, the city government was able to bring government services closer to the people through the establishment of City Social Welfare Office (CSWDO) Satellite Office, Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) desk, and Social Security System (SSS) E-Center in Barangay Ma-ao.
These are on top of the many other initiatives like the creation of Bago City PhilHealth Advocates, Mayor’s Help Desk in all 24 barangays, Social Worker on Field, Agriculture Technician on Field, and Mobile Birth Registration, among others.
“We implemented these programs with a belief that if the people cannot go to the city hall, the city hall will go to them to give the necessary services that they need,” she stressed.
The city government, under her leadership, has also been bringing at least 80 services of local, provincial and national government offices and agencies to the grassroots through the monthly Asenso Bago Serbisyo sa Barangay Caravan.
The mayor also proudly shared some of her flagship programs and projects which have been gaining ground even in a short span of time since she assumed post in July this year.
These included the Atleta Bago for grassroots sports development; See Bright Bago that provides checkup and eyeglasses to Bagonhon children; Sanag Bago for the sitio electrification program; Cine Bago program that provides free outdoor movie experience to the public, and Tubig Bago that provides potable water to the communities in need.
In partnership with the Land Transportation Office and Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, the city government also conducted the LTO on Wheels and PhilHealth on Wheels in various barangays of the city.
“We want every Bagonhons to avail of the PhilHealth coverage as their health, along with social services, remains a top priority of the administration,” Mayor Javellana said.
The press statement added that her administration is also putting more premium on ensuring the welfare of those in the vulnerable sectors including the elderly. Thus, it expanded the social pension program coverage to an additional 1,600 beneficiaries.
Among other accomplishments of her administration included the reopening of the local government-run Buenos Aires Mountain Resort in Barangay Ilijan, groundbreaking for the Bago City Dungganon Youth Hub Library and Co-Working Space in Bantayan Park, and obtaining of license as a Primary Care Facility for the Bago City Health Office.
Recently, the city government also reaped several achievements that added to its long list of awards and recognitions including the ATOP Pearl Awards 2025 grand winner in the Best Practices in Sustainable Tourism (Component City Category).
Bago City has also crafted its 10-year Solid Waste Management Plan which is compliant to Republic Act 9003. Also, it passed the National Solid Waste Management Commission.
In her first few months in office, Javellana also holds several positions and has taken on additional duties and responsibilities.
She was elected director for the Fourth District of Negros Association of Chief Executives or Negros ACE; chairperson of Central Negros Council for Coastal Resources Development; chairperson of the Social Development Committee of the Provincial Development Council; Local Chief Executive co-chairman of the Central Sub-Provincial Health Zone representing LGUs in Third and Fourth District of Negros Occidental.
Earlier, she also joined the country’s Mayors for Good Governance under Observer Status, a step towards transparent and accountable leadership.*
