Bago City Mayor Nicholas Yulo, assisted by councilors Ma. Femmy Martir, Victor Michael Javellana, and Jozsef Mark Dexter Somcio, and City Agriculturist Carlito Indencia inspected the initial delivery of certified seeds in the warehouse at the Office of the City Agriculturist compound Thursday, a press release from the city said.

Delivered were 3,000 bags of NSIC RC 222 and 2,000 bags of NSIC RC 216 certified palay from the Philippine Rice Research Institute, under the DA-Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund.

The seeds are part of the 20,600 bags allocation for Bago City this wet cropping season, the press release said.

The city government, under its Palay Seeds Subsidy Program 50:50 scheme, also procured 4,500 bags, and 1,500 bags were delivered and intended for farmer beneficiaries in the northern part coverage of the NIA-BRIS.

The seeds subsidy will be ready for distribution to Bago farmers starting next week.

The programs are part of the continued support of the national and local governments to Bagonhon rice farmers to increase their yield, the press release added.*
