Mayor Marina “Mayette” Javellana-Yao has lauded the Bago City Softball Team for giving pride and honor to the city as they head to the 2025 Senior League Softball World Series in Delaware, USA on July 28 to August 3, a press release from Bago PIO said.
The Bagonhon softbelles recently claimed the championship after going undefeated in all six games at the Senior League Softball Asia-Pacific and Middle East Regional Tournament in Indonesia.
The team, mostly students of Ramon Torres National High School (RTNHS), is composed of Erica Arnaiz, Icelle Tanaman, Larny Joy Aquino, Mary Antoinette Sicapore, Ann Dyana Buenage, Julie Ann Buenafe, Audrie Sarsona, Biel Coline Tanaman, Nice Lobrido, Casandra Sumatra, Ashley Ortiz, Daniela Bejos, Maria Kimberly Alipato, Froline Manalo, Jean Scharlet Estrada, and Ashevielle Dela Cruz.
Most of them were also part of the city’s team who secured the championship title in the 2023 Junior League Softball World Series in Kirkland, Washington, USA.
During their courtesy visit at her office on July 8, the mayor told the team that she looks forward to watching their upcoming games.
“Thank you for the strong heart, grit and passion that you put in sports and may you inspire more Bagonhons to become softball players like you,” she said, adding that “madamo gid nga salamat and see you back soon.”
