A female member of the Bantay Lasang (forest guard), was summarily executed by a group of armed men on Thursday, November 14, at Sitio Taytay 3 in Barangay Carabalan, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental.
Initial investigations of the Himamaylan police showed that a group of persons barged into the residence of the 47-year-old victim, whose identity was withheld by the police, on Thursday night.
The victim and her adopted son were dragged outside of their home by the suspects, according to the police.
Without any reason and provocation, the victim was shot in the face, while she was lying on the ground, and she was shot again in the head, police further said.
She was reported by the Himamaylan police to have been declared dead on arrival at a medical facility in Himamaylan City.
As of press time yesterday, police probers are still trying to establish the motive of the shooting incident, and those behind it.*
