Bar passers congratulated

Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia congratulated yesterday the new barristers of Bacolod City saying “you have made our city proud.”

“On behalf of the City of Bacolod it is with great pride and honor to congratulate our new lawyers for passing the 2020-2021 Bar Exams,” Leonardia said in a statement.

“I’ve been there. I know what you went through and I know how it feels to pass the bar exams. The arduous journey you just had, especially that we were in the midst of a global pandemic that posed additional challenge when you took the bar, is an experience you will cherish always for sure,” the mayor, who is a lawyer himself, said.

I wish you all the best as you start a new journey. It won’t be smooth-sailing sometimes as you establish your name in the legal profession, he added.

But as former US President Franklin Delano Roosevelt once said: “A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor,” Leonardia said.

May this feat encourage you to remain steadfast in your search for the truth that is being threatened or undermined not only by hearsays but also by fake news, he said.

Cherish this day with your loved ones. But let this be a reminder that your sacrifices were not in vain. Take pride because you are now vanguards of justice that carry the torch of the Constitution, Leonardia concluded.*
