BY ADRIAN P. NEMES III

A single shot in the head ended the life of a barber in Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod City Friday, Station 7 chief, P/Captain Elmer Bonilla, said yesterday.

Bonilla identified the fatality as Ronil Bantigue, alias “Tenot”, of Purok Cabugwason in the barangay, who died while being treated at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital.

Initial investigation showed that Bantigue was asked by his boss, whom the police did not identify, to look for a tricycle at about 6:40 p.m. near the Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal parish church shrine.

Two persons riding in tandem approached the barber and one of them shot him in the head.

Bonilla said they are still facing a blank wall on the motive for the killing of Bantigue, who was released from jail a few months ago, reportedly for selling illegal drugs.

Meanwhile, two men on a motorcycle also shot a businessman, who was sitting in front of his vegetable store at Margarita Street in Brgy. 40, Bacolod, at about 4:20 p.m. Saturday.

P/Major Leo Estopa, Station 6 chief, said Rey Bibillo Jr., 46, of Saint Francis Village, Brgy. Taculing, Bacolod, is now in stable condition at the Riverside Medical Center.

The family of the victim told the police he had not received any threat before the shooting incident.

SHABU SEIZED

More than P150,000 in suspected shabu was seized by Station 9 policemen from two street level individuals at about 11:15 p.m. Saturday in Brgy. Cabug, Bacolod City.

P/Major Ritchee Gohee, Station 9 chief, identified those arrested as Analie Baldevieso, 36, and Glenn Paul Castillo, 42, both of Deca Homes Subdivision in the barangay.

Gohee said seven sachets of suspected shabu were seized from Baldevieso while another one was recovered from Castillo. The confiscated illegal drugs weigh about 23 grams and worth P156,800.

Illegal drug charges will also be filed against Michael Franco, who was nabbed with three sachets of suspected shabu and a tooter, in Purok Cabugwason, Brgy. Cabug Friday, Gohee said.

Franco, 35, of San Roque 2, Block 69 in Brgy. Handumanan, was arrested for allegedly stealing the motorcycle of P/SSgt. Antonietto Iwarata, who is an intel operative of Police Station 9.*
