Authorities have identified the man found dead under the Magsungay Bridge in Purok Jardin, Barangay Taculing, Bacolod City, on February 20.
The victim was identified as 54-year-old alias ‘Valentine,’ a resident of Purok Progreso, Bagong Dalan, Barangay Sum-ag.
Valentine was working as a parking aid or ‘barker,’ and had reportedly been away from his family home for several weeks prior to the incident.
The victim had been living in a makeshift shelter under the bridge for approximately two weeks prior to the discovery of his body.
His body was found by passersby on Friday morning in the area near Circumferential Road.
Bacolod City Police Office Station 6 Commander Capt. Peter John Ramos said they found no evidence of foul play.
The death is being treated as an accident, with police theorizing that the victim may have fallen from his elevated makeshift sleeping area, resulting in a fatal head injury.
The victim’s family has since coordinated with Police Station 6 to claim the remains and arrange for a formal burial.*
