Seventeen scholarship grantees, who belong to Batch 4 of the provincial government’s Dualtech Scholarship Program, will leave the province next week, for a two-year Electro Mechanics Technology study at the Dualtech training center in Laguna.
The scholars are out-of-school youth from the cities and municipalities of Negros Occidental, who qualified for the scholarship.
Under the program, students will be taught basic and industrial skills, personal development, along with lessons on digital electronics and basic automation, a press release from the Capitol said.
The technical-vocational scholarship program seeks to produce high quality electromechanic technicians in response to a growing demand, both domestically and abroad.
The group had their final orientation held at the Negros Residences in Bacolod City Monday, with Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson, Roger Sarmiento of Buglas Foundation Inc., and Negros Occ. Scholarship Program head, Karen Dinsay.
Lacson said the training will provide the scholars with good livelihood opportunities that will improve their lives.
He advised the scholars to be diligent in their studies and to help their fellow Negrense-scholars in times of need.
There are already 72 Negrense Dualtech scholars who are in Laguna, and the first three batches will graduate this year.
Dualtech is a technical school with more than a thousand scholars from various provinces in the country whose main program focuses on electro mechanics technology. The school has 140 partner-companies and has produced more than 12,000 graduates since 1982.*
