The Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan)-Negros and its allied organizations staged a rally at the Fountain of Justice in Bacolod City calling for justice for the victims of the Escalante Massacre during the 36th anniversary of the bloody incident yesterday.

Ereneo Longinos, Bayan-Negros spokesperson, yesterday said the victims have not achieved justice since the administration of former President Cory Aquino up to the present.

Cases of human rights violation have even increased under the Duterte administration in the form of war on drugs, anti-insurgency campaign and the implementation of the Anti-Terror Law, he said.

Longinos said the 49th anniversary of Martial Law today will be marked by a rally by medical frontliners who want to register their sentiments against the failure of government to address their needs and provide them benefits like special risk allowance during this time of pandemic.

He said that on a scale of one to 10, President Rodrigo Duterte deserves a rating of negative zero.

They also welcome the investigation being conducted by the International Criminal Court on the spate of killings particularly on the President’s war on drugs program, he added.*
