Volunteers of BBM (Bongbong Marcos) and Sara Duterte, who actively campaigned for the tandem during the May 9 elections in Negros Occidental, are now returning to the streets and national highways for the removal and proper disposal of campaign posters.
Retired PCol. William Señoron, a convenor of the Padayona Inday Sara Negros Moverment, that earlier pushed for Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte to run for president, said that they have mobilized several teams of volunteers for the clean-up drive in various cities and municipalities of Negros Occidental.
Señoron said that they are not only removing their campaign materials, but also of other candidates, in an effort to restore the province to its original state of pre-campaign.
Before Duterte-Carpio decided to be the vice-presidential candidate of Ferdinand Marcos Jr., the group of Señoron initiated the “Run Sara Run” movement by placing streamers in key areas of Bacolod City, and neighboring towns and cities, urging the daughter of President Rodrigo Duterte to run for the country’s highest elected position.
The group of Señoron later pivoted their support to the BBM-Sara tandem after Duterte-Carpio became the vice-presidential candidate of Marcos Jr., Señoron said.
“It was a very grueling campaign season, not just for the candidates, but also the voters, who were very emotionally involved,” he said.
Now that the Filipino people had spoken and elected their new leaders, Señoron said “it is now the time to unite and heal as one. This is one way to show our support to the incoming administration,” he added.
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources also urged candidates in the May 9 national and local elections to engage in clean up drive and dispose of campaign materials in accordance with the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000.*
