Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez had lauded the Bacolod Bulk Water Inc. (BBWI) for its swift response to a pipe breakage incident that caused temporary flooding in parts of Barangay Mansilingan, including Ging St., Raymundo St., and 6th Road, Hermelinda Homes on March 1.
In a statement, Benitez said he appreciates immediate action in addressing the situation, taking full responsibility, and committing to compensate affected households.
As the bulk water supplier of BACIWA-PrimeWater, BBWI plays a vital role in ensuring a stable and reliable water supply for Bacolod, the mayor said.
While we recognize their efforts to expand and enhance water delivery, we must emphasize the critical need for strict safety protocols to prevent such incidents in the future, Benitez said.
He added that the city government will continue to closely monitor the situation to ensure that necessary measures are implemented, accountability is upheld, and residents receive uninterrupted access to clean and safe water.
We appreciate the patience and understanding of our community as improvements to our water infrastructure continue, Benitez further said.*
