The Bacolod City government urged individuals who experienced unusual physical symptoms after consuming arroz caldo at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) yesterday, January 16, to visit the City Health Office.
Bacolod City Administrator Atty. Mark Steven Mayo confirmed that the precaution was triggered when a staff member from the Business Permits and Licensing Office found a ‘foreign object’ in their serving cup.
Around 300 people, including those who were clients of the Business One Stop Shop, received the meal in question.
The food was reportedly donated by a private individual in a personal capacity.
The CHO has been ordered to operate through Saturday and Sunday to cater to potential patients.
The mysterious object has been submitted for laboratory testing to determine its exact nature, with results expected to be available on Monday.
As of press time, the city government has not received any reports of illness or poisoning from others who consumed the meal.*
