A series of police buy bust operations in Bacolod City on July 19 and 20 led to the apprehension of five drug suspects and the recovery of about P170,000 worth of suspected shabu and dried marijuana leaves.
The arrest yesterday of Laurrianne Libre, 23, during a buy bust operation of the Police Station 5 intelligence operatives led by Capt. John Christopher Masangkay, at Purok Tangigue, Brgy. 1, Bacolod City, yielded an estimated 10 grams of suspected shabu with a market value of P68,000.
A similar anti-drug operation of Police Station 2 Drug Enforcement Team also led yesterday to the arrest of another drug suspect identified as Elmark Sonido, alias Joger, in Purok Tahong, Brgy. 2 Bacolod City.
About half a kilo of suspected dried marijuana leaves with a market value of P60,000 was also confiscated from Sonido, 20, of the same place, police records show.
A Street Level Individual drug personality identified by the police as Giovannie Agdana, alias Bany, 51, was also collared by the police on July 19 in another buy bust operation in Brgy. Banago, Bacolod City.
Recovered by the police were an estimated 2.3 grams of suspected shabu with a market value of P15,640 and P200 in marked money.
Police Station 2 personnel headed by PCapt. Paul Vincent Pendon also nabbed Melvin Emolaga, alias Tata, 28, in another buy bust operation at Purok Balinday, in Brgy. 2, Bacolod City.
The apprehension of Emolaga also led to the confiscation of about four grams of suspected shabu with a market value of P27,200 and P500 in marked money, police said.
PLt. Col. Sherlock Gabana, BCPO Public Information Officer, said the arrested suspects are now locked up in the custodial facilities and will be charged for violation of RA 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
In a statement, PCol. Thomas Joseph Martir, BCPO director, lauded the operating units and personnel for their relentless effort in the campaign against illegal drugs in Bacolod City.*
