The head of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) has credited the discipline of rally participants and the cooperation of the public for the peaceful protest that recorded no untoward incidents.
City Director of Bacolod Police PCol. Joeresty Coronica, noted that the successful security operations were a direct result of these factors.
Last Sunday, protesters marched from South Capitol Road to Bacolod City Public Plaza for a massive anti-corruption rally, joining a nationwide protest movement known as the “Trillion Peso March.”
Thousands of individuals from various sectors, including church, civil society organizations, and transport groups, among others, joined the protest.
In a statement, BCPO reaffirms its dedication to securing the safety of the community while respecting the rights of every citizen.
“Bacolod City remains peaceful and orderly during public gatherings and other similar activities,” BCPO said.
Meanwhile, Bacolod Mayor Greg Gasataya expressed his gratitude for a peaceful protest attended by different sectors.
In Negros Island, more than 1,000 personnel were deployed by the Police Regional Office – Negros Island Region for the nationwide protest that they concluded was “generally peaceful.”*
