The Bacolod City Police Office installed a food bank for indigent individuals and affected police personnel for coronavirus disease cases in Bacolod City.
P/Lt. Col. Ariel Pico, BCPO public information officer, said yesterday that the concept of the Philippine National Police Food Bank is like that of a preparation for any emergency and eventuality, as well as to help indigents.
“Since the COVID crisis comes without even a little warning, it brings us great physical, emotional, mental, and financial burdens. It is the best time for us to help each other,” Pico said.
The PNP Food Bank is also part of the agenda of new PNP chief P/Gen. Camilo Pancratius Cascolan, he said.
The food bank is located at the BCPO headquarters and currently has 14 sacks of rice, two boxes of canned goods, and four boxes of instant noodles that came from “ambag-ambag” or chip-in donations of police personnel and stakeholders, he said.
Food packs from the BCPO Food Bank were initially distributed to tricycle drivers in barangays Singcang-Airport and Taculing, he added.*
