BY GILBERT P. BAYORAN

Stressing that Bacolod City has been recently terrorized by recent spate of shooting incidents, Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez ordered police chief Col. Thomas Joseph Martir to intensify anti-crime operations and increase police patrol and surveillance in crime-prone areas.

Resolve cases as soon as possible, was the marching order of Benitez to the Bacolod City Police Office.

This also developed as Benitez stressed the need to beef up the capacity of BCPO to ensure the stability of peace and order in Bacolod City.

As I have pledged during the campaign, my administration is committed to allocate higher budget to the BCPO, Benitez said.

He added that his administration will also invest in the installation of state-of-the-art CCTV system and solar-power street lights for crime prevention and crime deterrence in hot spots, and to improve the safety of pedestrians, especially the call center agents, during night time.

Benitez earlier promised to augment 10 BCPO stations with 100 police auxiliaries and fuel for their patrol vehicles.*
