The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) reported yesterday an 11.48 percent drop in total crime incidents for the month of February, compared to the same period last year.
PLt. Liberty Indiape, BCPO deputy spokesperson, said they recorded 108 incidents last month, compared to 127 in February 2021, or a reduction of 15 incidents.
Of the 108 incidents, 17 are classified in the peace and order index while 91 are in the public safety index.
The peace and order index maybe considered as crime incidents that reflect the crime situation in a particular community while the public safety index is a classification that provides a separate and distinct accounting of vehicular incidents cases such as those resulting in homicide, physical injury and damage to property.
In the same period, BCPO also noted a significant decrease in the eight focus crimes, from 26 in 2021 to 17 this year.
Indaipe said that the significant decrease in crime incidents may be attributed to the various police-initiated operations conducted by the BCPO.
She added that the continuous Enhanced Managing Police Operations (EMPO) regularly conducted to help in addressing appropriate and target-specific interventions in the reduction of crime incidents especially the 8 Focus Crimes which greatly lessened the average monthly crime rate in Bacolod City.
In the campaign against illegal drugs, BCPO seized 316.25 grams of suspected shabu from 47 arrested drug personalities with a market value of P2.1 million.
PCol. Joseph Thomas Martir, BCPO director, commended all the police personnel for a job well done in reducing crime incidents in Bacolod City.
However, Martir reminded BCPO personnel to not to lower their guard against all forms of criminality.
At the same time, he also ordered all BCPO police units to strengthen preparations and step up for the coming elections as well as in the downgrading of the COVID-19 alert status in Bacolod City.*
