Policemen seized another P5.4 million worth of suspected shabu from an arrested drug personality in a major anti-drug operation in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, on Saturday.
The arrest of a certain Rico by the Police Station 2 operatives, classified by the police as a high value individual drug personality, at Purok Narra Baybay in Barangay 8, Bacolod City, yielded an estimated 800 grams of suspected shabu with a market value of P5,400,000.
In a statement, PCol. Joeresty Coronica, Bacolod City Police Office chief, attributed the successful anti-drug operation to proactive intelligence efforts and the cooperation of the community.
“This operation is part of our comprehensive security measures to protect the MassKara Festival and maintain public safety,” Coronica said.
Three days earlier, the BCPO also arrested three siblings in Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod City, which yielded about 300 grams of suspected shabu with a market value of P1.3 million.
The prevailing street price of shabu was reported by the police to have risen from P6,000 to P10,000 per gram.
From October 17 to 19, the police have seized more than P10 million worth of suspected shabu, from three arrested drug suspects in Brgys. 7, 12 and 27, all in Bacolod City, the seizures totaling more than 1.5 kilos of suspected shabu.
Coronica said the zero-tolerance stance of police officers reflects the BCPO dedication to get rid of illegal drugs in Bacolod City, and ensuring a secure MassKara festival for everyone.
