The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) has issued a warning to the public regarding a surge in text scams and online fraudulent activities where unscrupulous individuals are unlawfully using the names of PNP officers and personnel to solicit money.
The scammers reportedly attempt to secure funds from the public through online transfers, falsely claiming to represent police personnel or legitimate PNP activities.
BCPO said that the Philippine National Police (PNP) does not engage in any form of solicitation, whether for money or otherwise, through text messages, online platforms, or any other communication channel.
Authorities urged the public to consider any such attempt as immediately fraudulent.
In a statement, BCPO Director PCol. Joeresty Coronica has directed all PNP personnel to not entertain or respond to any solicitation messages circulating online or via mobile phones.
He reminded all police units to remain vigilant and exercise extreme caution to prevent falling victim to such schemes.*
