The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) has issued a warning to the public against engaging in illegal betting activities as the 2026 Negros Island Region Athletic Association Meet (NIRAAM) enters its peak days.
During a press conference held today, PCPT Dax Santillan, Chief of the Public Information Office, revealed that the police are closely monitoring potential illegal gambling and individuals attempting to place wagers on the various sporting events.
He said that any individuals caught engaging will be arrested.
Santillan emphasized that the BCPO’s intelligence units have been activated, specifically to track and neutralize any betting schemes related to the regional meet, which runs until March 7.
Over 500 personnel have been stationed at playing venues, billeting quarters, and key areas of convergence to ensure the ‘safe, peaceful, and orderly’ conduct of the inaugural sports competition.
Santillan said that the police force remains committed to transparency and proactive law enforcement to protect both local residents and the thousands of visiting delegates from across the Negros Island Region.*
