Bacolod Rep. Greg Gasataya, whose declaration of neutrality was described by Grupo Progreso led by Mayor Evelio Leonardia as a “sham and a political deception,” will be accepted with “open arms” should he decide to join them, declared former Rep. Alfredo Benitez.
“My politics transcends political biases. I look at character and performance. Whatever political leanings Cong. Greg will embrace, I will vote for him. Benitez, who is challenging Leonardia in the Bacolod City mayoralty race in the May 2022 elections, said.
Leonardia had said that Gasataya’s actions in the past weeks indicated he is clearly with the rival camp, apparently referring to the group of Benitez.
With the recent political development, Leonardia indicated that Grupo Progreso is now open to new political alliances.
Gasataya said he will issue a statement after listening first the full story of the press conference called by the group of Leonardia.
Should he need a political party to join with, we will accept him with open arms, Benitez, who led the Asenso Bacolod team, said, in a press statement issued by his group.*
