After a series of delays, the Bacolod City government is set to begin the distribution of school supplies to public elementary school students today, Sept. 17.
The distribution will kick off in schools located within District 1.
“Mayor Greg Gasataya will personally supervise the distribution of school supplies in all schools,” said Councilor Al Victor Espino, chairman of the committee on education.
Schools included in the initial phase are Andres Bonifacio Elementary School (ABES) I, ABES II, Banago Elementary School I and II, Mandalagan Elementary School, and Abkasa Elementary School.
The initiative aims to provide essential materials to students and support their educational needs.
“Better late than never, but next year we will ensure that the delivery of school supplies will be on time,” Espino said.
The councilor said that they allocated a total of P32 million budget for this year’s distribution.
The school supplies were supposed to be distributed during the opening of classes, but was moved to late August, and however, due to the new procurement law, it was delayed further until today.*
